Steady: Stress & HRV Tracker
Terms of Use
Last updated: September 25, 2026
1. Agreement
These terms apply to Steady: Stress & HRV Tracker (“Steady”), an iPhone app made by Resonance Logic, LLC (“we”, “us”), a software studio in New York. By downloading or using Steady you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Steady is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to it. Where the two conflict, the Standard EULA wins.
How Steady handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
2. What Steady is, and what it is not
Steady reads heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep and related data that your Apple Watch has written to Apple Health, and compares it with your own past readings to show a stress score through the day, stress periods and a morning recovery score. It also offers breathing and relaxation sessions.
Steady is a general wellness app. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or other qualified professional.
Wrist-sensor heart rate and heart rate variability are estimates. A stress score is a comparison with your own past readings, not a measurement of how you feel. Readings can be missing, delayed or wrong — for example when your Watch is loose, off your wrist, or has not synced. Do not use Steady to make medical decisions. Talk to a health professional about anything that worries you.
Steady is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number. In the United States you can call or text 988. Steady’s “Talk to someone” page lists more places to turn.
Breathing and relaxation sessions are meant to be gentle. Stop if you feel dizzy, short of breath or unwell, and check with a doctor first if you have a heart or lung condition or are pregnant.
3. Who can use Steady
You must be at least 13 years old to use Steady. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian’s permission, including for any purchase.
Steady needs an iPhone running iOS 18 or later and an Apple Watch that writes heart rate and sleep data to Apple Health. Some readings, such as wrist temperature, need newer Watch models. Readings your Watch cannot record are left out rather than guessed.
4. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase
Steady is a subscription app. After setup, Steady Pro is needed to use it. Steady Pro is sold through the App Store as a monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription — some plans with a 7-day free trial — or as a one-time lifetime purchase. The plans, prices and trial terms on offer are shown in the app before you buy, and may differ by country and change over time.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- A free trial becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. If notifications are on, Steady reminds you two days before a trial ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Steady Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
- The lifetime purchase is a single payment that unlocks Steady Pro, with no renewal, for as long as we offer Steady on the App Store. Buying it does not cancel an existing subscription — cancel that yourself.
- Restore purchases in the app unlocks what you already bought on a new or reset iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account.
Apple processes all payments. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Without Steady Pro you can still restore a purchase, read these terms and the Privacy Policy, export or delete your data, open “Talk to someone”, and contact support. If a subscription lapses, your data stays on your iPhone and is there again when you resubscribe.
5. Your data is yours
Everything Steady holds about you is stored on your iPhone, not on any server of ours. That has a consequence you should know about: Steady’s database is excluded from iCloud and device backups, and we have no copy of it. If you lose or replace your iPhone, delete the app, or use “Delete everything”, your Steady history is gone and we cannot recover it. Use Export in Settings → Privacy and your data if you want a copy of your own.
Steady’s access to Apple Health is controlled by you in iOS Settings → Health, and by Apple’s terms for HealthKit.
6. Acceptable use
Use Steady for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except as the Standard EULA or the law allows, do not try to get around the subscription, and do not use the app to break any law.
7. Intellectual property
Steady, including its software, design, text and graphics, belongs to Resonance Logic, LLC or its licensors. The Method page and the in-app sources cite and quote published research, which belongs to its authors and publishers. One check-in question is reproduced under a Creative Commons licence, with its attribution in the app. Open-source components are listed on the Licences page.
8. Other services
Steady relies on services we do not control: Apple Health, the App Store and your Apple Watch, and RevenueCat for purchases. Their availability and behaviour are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for them, including for data your Watch does not record or Apple Health does not share.
9. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, Steady is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that any score, reading, alert or insight is accurate, complete or timely, that an alert will arrive, or that the app will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Resonance Logic, LLC and its members, employees and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, health outcome or decision made in reliance on Steady. Our total liability for any claim relating to Steady is limited to the amount you paid for Steady in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions or limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
11. Changes and ending
We may update Steady and change or remove features. We may change these terms; when we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and if a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Steady after that means you accept the new terms.
You can stop using Steady at any time by deleting it and cancelling any subscription. If you break these terms, your licence to use Steady ends.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or about Steady will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you and we agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. If you live outside the United States, this does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer law where you live.
13. About Apple
These terms are between you and Resonance Logic, LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Steady or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or intellectual-property claims. If Steady fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
